Kennel Closed – update 9/18/2018

Update from the Paws Place Crew:  First of all, we want to give a tremendous shout out to the Winnabow Fire Department, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Animal Protective Services, and the National Guard for rescuing us from our worst nightmare.  At 4 am on September 16, water rose around the kennel and flooded the entire facility.  Our 4 volunteers and 23 dogs were safely removed and transported to the Brunswick County Shelter.  The dogs are at the county shelter.  They are all safe, dry, and being well-cared for.  Last night, our volunteers were able to sleep in real beds for the first time in 5 days.

A brief visit revealed that almost 3 feet of water flooded the entire facility. The water has almost receded around the kennel, but we are still unable to get in and fully assess the damage to our building, kennel, and Pawsmobile.  As soon as we can get in there, we will update you on the situation.

We know that many of our Paws Place family and friends may also have been devastated by this storm.  You are in our thoughts and prayers as we together begin to rebuild after this devastating storm.  Stay strong.
