Volunteers are the heart of Paw’s Place and are appreciated for their strengths and contributions. What they do is invaluable and necessary for our organization. We want volunteers that have the needs of the animals as their central focus.

Paw’s Place has 42 kennels that can house up to 80 dogs and puppies. We currently have over 30 dogs that we are caring for. Volunteers are needed in the following areas:

At the shelter (normal shelter hours are 7:30 am until noon daily):

  • Cleaning kennels
  • Laundry
  • Maintenance and repairs
  • Dog bathing
  • Dog walking
  • Dog training
  • Photography
  • Sorting items for annual yard sale
  • Organizing barn

There are also other roles to be filled outside the shelter:

  • Dog food pick up
  • Adoption events
  • Publicity
  • Fundraising
  • Grant writing
  • Event planning
  • Website/Face book

We welcome volunteers of all ages. Children under the age of fifteen must be accompanied by a parent or older sibling over eighteen years of age. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the on-line Volunteer Application.

All new volunteers are required to attend a one-hour orientation session that is normally held at the kennel on the first and third Saturdays each month.  Details will be sent in a welcome email that you will receive after completing our Volunteer Application.  After attending orientation you will receive weekly requests for activities that you have indicated a desire to help with.
