Paw's Place is collecting old cell phones, selling them to recyclers, and using the cash to buy dog food.
Cell phones are extremely popular these days and because there are so many options and new plans available, a growing surplus of used cell phones is developing. If you think for a moment, you will realize that you probably have a cell phone sitting around idle in your house and there are a number of people you already know who have inactive cell phones as well. Many households have two or three used phones left over from their "previous" service!
Besides donating your old cell phones, you can help Paw's Place by collecting old cell phones from various public places. Police officers, business people, and the general public usually have several cell phones lying around that became useless when they switched to a new cellular service or upgraded their existing service. They'll eventually just throw them in the trash. Give local officials in your area a "Phones for Bones" flyer to remind them that Paw's Place can use old cell phones. Make sure that they know to call you when they have cell phones to donate. You could pickup the cell phones when they call you or visit once a month to check to see if they have any cell phones to donate.
The cell phones need to be in operating order, must have the battery attached, but we don't need the chargers or other cords.
For less than 10 phones, box them up and mail them to: Paw's Place, 3701 Boiling Spring Road, Winnabow, NC 28479. The bulk mail postage cost will be your donation to Paw's Place. Thank You!
If you are able to collect 10 or more cell phones, we will send you a special return label (by US mail) that you can put on the box. Then just place the box in a Federal Express drop box. The cell phone recycler then pays for the shipping.
If you believe that you want to try to collect a lot of old cell phones, we can also send you collection boxes to place at various public locations. These white boxes are 12" by 12" by 14" high with the messages: "Donate Your Cell Phones Here," Join The Great Cell Phone Drive Today!" "Please Donate Your Cell Phones For A Safer Environment. You Make A Difference," and "Thank You For Donating Your Cell Phones!" The Paw's Place "Phones For Bones" flyer is then placed on the front of the box. After obtaining permission, the box could be placed at police and sheriff's stations, post offices, stores, and other locations where there is a lot of traffic.
HELP PAW'S PLACE BY STARTING AN OLD CELL PHONE DRIVE:
Join Paw's Place in a drive to round up all of those old cell phones that are not used anymore. Paw's Place is collecting old cell phones (battery must be included) to sell for cash. Paw's Place gets anywhere from $3.00 to $7.00 per cell phone. This money will be used to buy dog and puppy food. Every day, Paw's Place uses anywhere from 75 to 100 pounds of dog food, 5 pounds of dog biscuits and miscellaneous doggie treats. Old cell phones help us provide food for our homeless dogs and puppies.
Drop off old cell phones at Paw's Place (open daily from 9AM to Noon), mail the old cell phones to Paw's Place, or call for a pickup. If you would like to start an old cell phone drive at your school or work, please leave a message at 910-845-PAWS (or by email at Contact Us By Email).
