The mission of Paws Place and past success of the enterprise has caught the attention of many people in our community. Several have stepped forward and expressed an interest in becoming part of this organization. These people have volunteered and been elected to join the Board of Directors of Paw’s Place, Inc.
The current Board of Directors are:
Nancy Janovetz—Founder of Paws Place and Kennel Director.
George Zimmerman—Board member and Vice President. George is a PhD Chemist who is retired from Colgate Palmolive.
Peggy Durso—Board member and Secretary/Treasurer. Peggy has worked in administrative positions at a variety of industries in her career including financial planning, education, health services, legal and manufacturing.
Gordy Garrison—Board Member. Gordy is a graduate of UNCW and owns a construction business in Wilmington.
Catherine Zadzora – Board Member. As a new resident to the United States, Catherine decided to volunteer her time and fell in love with Paws Place. Her life long passion for dogs quickly led to her increasing involvement with the shelter, where her responsibilities include fundraising events, fostering, social media assistance and online presence. Catherine has a background in law enforcement and live news television.
Tony Durso—President (not a voting member of the Board). Tony is an engineer and an MBA who has retired from ExxonMobil Chemical Company.
Paws Place was founded in 1999. We have completed our thirteenth year of operation mainly through the efforts of Nancy Janovetz. During those years Paws Place has rescued and found permanent homes for well over 1000 dogs. That’s a tremendous track record of saved dogs and happy families who have adopted them.
