We recently took in eight dogs from Pender County who could not house over 20 dogs they had taken from a hoarder.  One of these dogs was pregnant and has since given birth to seven healthy puppies.  While we had the room for these dogs, we need help with their medical expenses.

All 15 dogs will need to be spayed and/or neutered.  They will all need to have parvo/distemper and rabies shots as well as heartworm checks and preventative medication.  Two of these dogs, Jenny and Joker, will need surgery.  Jenny was apparently hit by a car and her injuries were not properly cared for and she has great difficulty walking due to a broken pelvis.  Joker will need eye surgery.  We are consulting with the vets to see what the best treatment plan will be for both.

We are anticipating vet bills totaling $3000 to care for all these dogs.  These are extraordinary expenses above and beyond our “normal” costs to run the shelter.  Paws Place needs your help in order to give these dogs the healthy start that they deserve.  Please click on the “ChipIn!” button in the widget below, and give whatever you can.
