Please Note:
We get a lot of emails from people requesting that Paw's Place take their unwanted pets, or help them find a shelter in their area that will help them place an animal. Due to the large number of unwanted (and unfixed) pets in North Carolina alone, Paw's Place is normally full to capacity. As a No-Kill rescue, every animal at Paw's Place gets a chance to be adopted, and if not, has a home with us forever, so our space is very limited.
We recommend that you use all the facilities available to adopt out your unwanted companion: local newspapers usually give free ads to get animals adopted; if in Wilmington area, there is the PawPrintsMagazine that has excellent success in getting adoptions for the ads placed; putting pictures in the local vet offices with your phone number; or placing your pet's picture on the Internet. We have over 100 animals to place, you have one. Please help us, by doing some work to place your pet.
If you live in our area, and you found or lost a pet, check the Star-News Classified. Classified Sections are: "Found" - section #1300; "Lost" - section #1305; "Cats" - section #6815; "Dogs" - section #6820. Call the Star-News Classified at 910-343-2323. Ask about free animal placement ads.
If you are not local and need to find someone to take a pet you found or your no longer wanted pet, or if you want to ADOPT a pet (rather than buy one), go to www.Petfinder.com, click on "Shelter & Rescue Groups" at the top, enter your zip code, and you will get a list of shelters near your zip code. Good Luck!
We believe that if you have adopted a pet, that companion is your responsibility for it's entire life, just as if it was one of your children! In addition, pet dumping is a very serious crime in North Carolina, and comes with a $500 fine and/or up to 6 months in jail (the video camera at Paw's Place does a very good job of recording vehicle license numbers), so please consider the animal's welfare before you dump any animal(s) along the road.
